This guide will show you how to set up tracking for the following TradeDesk metrics in Northbeam:
  • Spend from TradeDesk
  • Click-based attribution using Northbeam UTM parameters
  • Clicks + Deterministic Views (C+DV) — verified view credit for impression-heavy placements

Choose your setup path

TradeDesk can send data to Northbeam two ways. Both give you spend reporting and click attribution — the difference is whether you also want C+DV.
C+DV requires REDS. The scheduled report path delivers daily totals, not the event-level impression data needed to match views to individual orders. If you want C+DV, choose the REDS path. You can start on the scheduled report path and upgrade to REDS later — just ask your TradeDesk account manager for REDS access when you’re ready.

Supported channels and attribution models

TradeDesk click tracking is supported on the following channels:
  • Display
  • Video
  • Native Display
  • Native Video
These channels support all Northbeam attribution models:
  • First Touch
  • Last Touch
  • Last Non-Direct Touch
  • Linear
  • Clicks-Only
  • Clicks + Deterministic Views (C+DV) — REDS path only
Channels with limited attribution. TV, Digital Out of Home, and Audio rarely drive a direct website click, so you’ll see minimal tracking and performance data for them. Spend still reports as normal.

Before you start

  • An active Northbeam account
  • A TradeDesk advertiser account with campaign manager access
  • Active TradeDesk campaigns on a supported channel
  • The Northbeam pixel installed and firing on your site
  • For the REDS path and C+DV: REDS access with TradeDesk (a paid add-on)
  • For C+DV: the same order_id sent to both TradeDesk and Northbeam — see Enable C+DV

Setup steps

  1. Connect the account
  2. Insert the UTMs
  3. Confirm tracking
  4. Enable Clicks + Deterministic Views (REDS path only)
