# Northbeam AI

> Ask your data questions in plain English

Use Northbeam AI inside the dashboard, or connect an external AI assistant to
your Northbeam data with MCP. Both are available on every Northbeam plan.

## Ask in Northbeam

Open **Northbeam AI** from the AI icon in the left-hand menu. Ask how Northbeam
works, query the dashboard you are currently in, or file a support ticket.

## Connect another AI assistant

Northbeam MCP gives ChatGPT, Claude, and other compatible tools read-only access
to your Northbeam data.

    Add Northbeam as a custom connector using `https://mcp.northbeam.io`, then
    sign in with your normal Northbeam login. You don't need a separate account
    or API key.

    Ask your assistant to list your Northbeam dashboards. If it returns your
    dashboards, you are connected.

Northbeam MCP follows your existing permissions. Your assistant can't see or
change anything that your Northbeam account can't access.
