# LiveIntent Setup
> Connect LiveIntent with your login and add Northbeam parameters to every creative so spend and revenue line up.
When you're done, Northbeam shows your LiveIntent spend, impressions, clicks, visits, and attributed revenue on the same campaigns and creatives.
Attribution for LiveIntent is click-based today. Deterministic impression and view-through attribution is planned for a future release.
**Before you start**, make sure you have:
* A LiveIntent username and password with access to the advertiser account you want to connect
* Access to edit the click URLs on your LiveIntent creatives
Sign in to LiveIntent from Northbeam and pick your advertiser.
Add `nbt` and `decisionid` to every creative's click URL.
Check that parameters and spend are reaching Northbeam.
Northbeam connects with your LiveIntent **username** and **password**. It uses them to sign in to LiveIntent and get an access token. Use a login that has access to the advertiser account you want to connect.
1. Open [Connections](https://dashboard.northbeam.io/settings/connections) and select **LiveIntent**. If you're still in onboarding, go to **Integrations > LiveIntent** instead.
2. Enter your LiveIntent username and password.
3. Once sign-in succeeds, select the right LiveIntent advertiser.
4. Click **Save**.
**If you skip this step:** LiveIntent spend, impressions, clicks, and campaign and creative names won't appear in Northbeam.
Add the Northbeam parameters to the click URL of every LiveIntent creative, existing and new. Northbeam doesn't add or update these URLs through the LiveIntent API.
Append this string to each click URL:

nbt=nb%3Aliveintent%3A%3A${CAMPAIGN_ID}%3A%3A${CREATIVE_ID}&decisionid=${DECISION_ID}
```
Use `?` if the click URL doesn't have any parameters yet:
```
https://example.com?nbt=nb%3Aliveintent%3A%3A${CAMPAIGN_ID}%3A%3A${CREATIVE_ID}&decisionid=${DECISION_ID}
```
Use `&` if it already has parameters:
```
https://example.com?utm_source=liveintent&nbt=nb%3Aliveintent%3A%3A${CAMPAIGN_ID}%3A%3A${CREATIVE_ID}&decisionid=${DECISION_ID}
```

**If you skip this step:** spend and platform metrics may still appear, but Northbeam may not be able to attribute visits and conversions to your LiveIntent campaigns and creatives.
LiveIntent reporting can take several hours to appear after you connect, and may keep updating for up to 48 hours.

## How LiveIntent data maps to Northbeam

LiveIntent performance is reported at the Campaign and Ad levels. The Adset level shows a placeholder to keep Northbeam's reporting hierarchy.
